(Yicai Global) Jan. 8 -- Youku Information Technology Co. is suing several companies in a bid to protect its Wolf Warriors 2 copyright, per the Beijing Municipality Haidian District People's Court website. Authorities are investigating the cases.

The plaintiff believes that these firms infringed its legitimate rights and interests, causing losses that are hard to measure. It requested that the court order the defendants to stop distributing the movie and to compensate Youku for economic losses and reasonable expenses.

Several groups including Beijing Xinhanzhe Technology Co., Baidu Cloud Computing Technology Co., Beijing Baidu Netcom Science and Technology Co., Shanghai Kuaimao Culture and Media Co. and Shanghai Youdu Broadband Technology Co. hosted the popular film on their websites while knowing that they did not have the right to do so, Youku said.

Youku previously filed a suit against Baofeng Group Co. and Shenzhen Xunlei Networking Technologies Co., alleging video copyright infringement. Youku sued Xunlei for disseminating Eternal Love without the copyright in April last year, seeking CNY2 million (USD307,700) in compensation.
