ZTE Trunking, Motorola China Ink Strategic Agreement on Broadband-Narrowband Convergence ZTE Trunking, Motorola China Ink Strategic Agreement on Broadband-Narrowband Convergence

(Yicai Global) Oct.26 -- Beijing-based ZTE Trunking Technology Corp. and Motorola Solutions Inc.'s [NYSE:MSI] Chinese unit, Motorola Solutions China Co, have penned a deal to carry out extensive work on broadband-narrowband convergence and private broadband networks.

The partnership aims to accelerate the implementation of different systems to bring together broadband and narrowband networks and achieve large-scale development in the field, Chinese media outlet Huanqiu reported yesterday.

The market believes that the bilateral cooperation will help stabilize Motorola's market share in China, the report added.

Broadband is accessed through wireless phones and internet connections, whereas narrowband is used by traditional phone lines. Uniting the two will make communication more stable and comprehensive.

Private broadband networks are those owned by the government or companies for dispatch communications or day-to-day contact. The wider a device's frequency range, the better, as this means it can transmit more information in the same amount of time, allowing the transfer of voice messages, pictures and video.

Motorola is a global private network giant with decades of experience in narrowband products. ZTE Trunking, a subsidiary of Chinese networking firm ZTE Corp. [SHE:000063;HKG:0763], is dedicated to professional trunking and has a wealth of experience working with broadband frequencies.
