China's mega tunneling machine holed through an underwater tunnel yesterday, connecting Shanghai's Chongming District and the city of Taicang in Jiangsu province with a total length of 14.3 km, Xinhua reported. The breakthrough will allow a high-speed train to run beneath the Yangtze River at a full speed of 350 km per hour without slowing down for the first time.
