(Yicai Global) March 6 -- Some 90 percent of Shanghai's 12,861 high-tech firms are back to work, the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission said at a press briefing today.

Almost all companies in the biomedicine, integrated circuits and artificial intelligence sectors are back, said Lu Min, the commission's chief engineer.

The commission has granted CNY353 (USD50.8 million) in credit and other financial services to 79 small- and medium-sized companies, and helped 16 businesses involved in epidemic prevention to secure CNY65.6 million in loans, he added.

Three licensed producers of kits that can detect severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, which causes Covid-19, have delivered more than 3.6 million testing sets across the country so far, Lu said.

Shanghai-based United Imaging Healthcare has delivered more than 360 sets of computerized tomography scanners and digital radiography systems across China. Medical image screening and basal body temperature thermometers from artificial intelligence application firms Yitu Tech and SenseTime have also been used at frontline hospitals in Hubei, according to the commission.
