(Yochai Global) Nov. 26 -- A logistics drone jointly developed by Airbus and Chinese drone maker XAG has completed a successful test flight in China's southern city of Guangzhou.
Codenamed Project Vesper, the unmanned aerial vehicle flew a takeout lunch over a 1.6 kilometer course yesterday, making its delivery in three minutes, The Paper reported. The partnership between its two developers was sealed at the World Economic Forum in early July.
The UAV is designed with a highly efficient quadrotor and a maximum takeoff weight of 19.4 kilograms and effective load of 5 kilograms. The maximum duration of the drone's single flight is 25 minutes, at a cruising speed of 43.2 kilometers an hour.
Set up in 2007, Guangzhou-based XAG provides precision agricultural technology services and has 53 percent of China's market for services to protect agricultural crops.
