(Yicai Global) June 27 -- Internet giant Alibaba Group Holding will unite with Hong Kong-based mobile service provider 3 Hong Kong to set up an Internet of Things platform for various local sectors to aid the special administrative region's transformation into a smart city, news portal china.com reported.

Alibaba and 3 Hong Kong signed a corresponding cooperation agreement in Alibaba's hometown of Hangzhou yesterday.

The two will collaborate on IoT in their partnership, per which 3 Hong Kong will introduce solutions most suitable for the city based on the platform, which will encompass smart buildings, logistics and transport.

The parties will work together in cloud computing, big data, basic networks and information security. Alibaba will help remake 3 Hong Kong's businesses into cloud-based ones and will offer it a big data platform to realize the interconnection of services.

3 Hong Kong is a leading mobile telecom operator under Hutchison Telecom Hong Kong Holdings that supplies high-speed wireless network services to locals.
