(Yicai Global) April 3 -- China Mobile, the country's mobile market leader, e-commerce giant JD.Com and United Data are to work together on building Internet of Things smart cities across the nation.

China Mobile's IoT arm, cloud computing service provider Beijing Jingdong 360 Degree E-commerce, also known as JD Cloud, and data center builder and operator United Data Holding Group inked the deal yesterday, according to a statement from United Data's parent company Lontrue.

The partners agreed to use their respective resources to construct IoT smart cities in China and cooperate long term during their construction and operation, the statement said.

They will give preference to China Mobile IoT's OneNet IoT development platform and other products and capabilities such as IoT cards, modules and chips, as well as JD Cloud's technology and solutions and United Data's expertise in areas like data center planning, construction and engineering management.

China Mobile IoT will also negotiate to transfer OneNet's data business to JD Cloud, with the latter providing computing and storage services, the statement added.

In addition, the three parties will join hands to create efficient information and communication-related products in a bid to help the logistics sector cut costs and boost efficiency, and bring high profits and sustainable incubated products to JD Cloud.

They also plan to open flagship stores on JD.Com to jointly explore building an exhibition hall for IoT products and provide reliable and high-quality IoT services and products, the statement said. The three will invest resources together to prioritize internet traffic direction and promotion of merchants or products on JD.Com that use the JD Cloud+IoT services.
