(Yicai Global) Aug. 24 -- InternetGoliathAlibabaGroup Holding's intelligent driving technology will beused inelectric cars developed by Chongqing Sokon Industrial Group, and the two companies will also cooperatetoapplybig data and cloud computing.

Sokon and Alibaba signed aletter ofintenttocooperateinthe former's home city ofChongqing,southwestern Chinayesterday,theauto parts manufacturer and new energy car developerannounced.

The two companies will cooperate in electric car technologyandthe electric cars developed by Sokon will applyAlibaba'sintelligent vehicle system,underthe agreement, per the announcement.

Sokon will use Alibaba's big data technology for its market and customer managementandthe latter's applications like AliCloudcloud servicesand Ding Talkoffice solutionsfor its daily business operations, the announcement said.

Sokon set up its affiliate SF Motors, a smart car research and development company, in Silicon Valleyin the US. SF Motors will use Sokon's newly-builtsmart car and electric car factoriesin China to produce electric cars, public informationshows.

SF Motors firstintroducedtwo pure electric SUV concept cars at the end of March, one ofwhichwill acceptpre-ordersin the US by the end of thisyear,whileChina's will startinMarch. The car willcome onto the market inthe third quarter of next year and achieve delivery in large volume by then, per the company's plan.

Alibaba has cooperated with carmakers to promote the latter's use of its smart connectedAliOSdriving system.SAIC, Dongfeng Citroen andother major Chineseauto producershave already signed cooperation agreementswith Alibaba.
