(Yicai Global) Oct. 16 -- Apple Inc. [NASDAQ:AAPL] has delivered the first shipment of its latest smartphone model iPhone X from China, state-run news agency Xinhua reported yesterday.

The shipment contained 4.65 million handsets, meaning that initial supplies will remain limited.

The phones were shipped from a facility in Zhengzhou, the capital of central China's Henan province, destined for the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates via the Zhengzhou International Airport and Shanghai's Pudong International Airport, respectively.

Customs authorities in Zhengzhou have introduced a series of simplified transportation and customs clearance processes to facilitate the international delivery.

Reports suggest that initial supplies of the flagship handset would be limited due to a relatively low factory output of the phone's three-dimensional facial recognition camera, known as True Depth, due to production difficulties.

The company aims to solve technical issues related to camera production next year, resulting in a rise in production capacity, said a Chinese stock analyst, suggesting that overall shipments of the iPhone X will increase substantially in the first half of 2018.

Apple will start accepting pre-orders for iPhone X on Oct. 27, around a week ahead of the official product release on Nov. 3.
