(Yicai Global) May 13 -- Appotronics’ shares closed higher after the leading Chinese laser display technology company signed a cooperation deal with the Airbus China Innovation Center.

Appotronics [SHA: 688007] rose 1.3 percent to end today at CNY27.15 (USD4.21), after earlier gaining as much as 2.7 percent. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell almost 1 percent.

Shenzhen-based Appotronics and ACIC will explore a variety of application scenarios for laser display technology in the aviation field, create a personalized cabin experience and further improve flight quality, according to the agreement.

ACIC will put forward display technology-related application requirements based on different scenarios of aviation products, and Appotronics will provide corresponding solutions, Shanghai Securities News reported today.

The two parties will discuss the feasibility of related technologies. Appotronics will complete the program development and prototype research and development. They will jointly promote the final industrialization.

“This partnership with ACIC is a breakthrough for Appotronics in the aviation field,” said founder and Chairman Li Yi. “It may open up a new track.”

Appotronics has created a laser optical engine, a core device in laser display, based on the pioneering ALPD laser display technology architecture. The company has also developed many laser-display products and system solutions by combining the core device with display scenarios, including movies, television, education, and exhibitions.

ACIC, also based in Shenzhen, is the only innovation center set up in Asia by European aviation giant Airbus. It mainly relies on local talent, tech and partners to design, test and authenticate new technologies in five fields: hardware laboratory, cabin experience, interconnection, manufacturing innovation, and urban air traffic.
