Aston Martin Expands Recall to Cover 440 More Vehicles in China After Safety Review Aston Martin Expands Recall to Cover 440 More Vehicles in China After Safety Review

(Yicai Global) Dec. 21 -- British luxury carmaker Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. has decided to expand a recall in China after reviewing the security risks of all its models.

Starting yesterday, the company expanded its recall to cover automobiles produced between Nov. 8, 2007 to Oct. 13, 2015 and some imported to China from 2008 to 2015.

Another 440 vehicles in the Chinese market are affected, the supervisor of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said yesterday.

In some cases, the inside rail of an auto's right front seat may compress the battery power cable, possibly damaging its insulation, leading to a series of security risks, the company said in an AQSIQ document.

Aston Martin Lagonda (China) Automobile Distribution Co. will install wiring guide blocks in recalled vehicles to relocate the battery power cable to ensure the seat rails will not touch it, eliminating the safety issues.

Aston Martin first called back vehicles sold in China for this reason in May last year and added the recently recalled ones as it thought they may have similar problems.

Starting Dec. 18, the company recalled 1,068 vehicles including some produced between Jan. 29, 2008 and Dec. 24, 2015 and some imported from 2008 to 2016 because the software control logic of the six speed tiptronics of these vehicles is incorrect and may lead to them rolling when parked. The automaker will upgrade the software for free.
