Beijing Education Authority Sends Supervisors Into Local Kindergartens Amid Reports of Abuse Beijing Education Authority Sends Supervisors Into Local Kindergartens Amid Reports of Abuse

(Yicai Global) Nov. 27 -- The Beijing Municipal Commission of Education is conducting safety inspections to deal with security issues at kindergartens, which have drawn widespread attention as of late. The commission has ordered each district to set up a dynamic database of regulatory information and will equip each pre-school with a supervisor, state-owned news agency Xinhua reported.

The authority requires districts to conduct comprehensive checks of kindergartens at all levels, covering licenses, health and safety, child welfare and education, faculty and staff and internal management, the report added.

Inspections should focus on fire safety, canteens and other areas of security concern, and corrective measures should be taken immediately if facilities are found to be operating below standards.

All districts will need to equip kindergartens with a supervisor, who will be responsible for overseeing the pre-school and making sure it operates in accordance with regulation, the commission required. The districts must help kindergartens build and improve upon their communication mechanisms with parents, get communities and parents involved in the construction and management of pre-schools and help them set up emergency response systems.
