Beijing Re-Opens Xiaotangshan Hospital to Test, Treat Inbound Travelers Beijing Re-Opens Xiaotangshan Hospital to Test, Treat Inbound Travelers

(Yicai Global) March 17 -- Beijing has re-opened its Xiaotangshan Hospital to screen those coming into the Chinese capital for Covid-19 and treat those who have the disease as it continues to spread worldwide.

The hospital has made more than 1,000 beds available, Beijing Daily reported. It will receive suspected and confirmed coronavirus patients, but request the governments of the provinces where those tested and not infected are bound for to transport the traveler there and quarantine them for 14 days. Not infected patients who live in Beijing will be sent back to their local district.

Xiaotangshan played a significant role in China's fights against Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome 17 years ago, but has remained closed since. Beijing renovated and expanded the hospital for the Covid-19 epidemic.

The hospital's new facilities, equipment and processes all passed inspections and can isolate the wards from corridors, the report added, saying there are also isolated entrances and exits to enable the independent operation of all wards.
