Beijing's Scenic Spots Limit Tourist Flows, Push 'Contactless' Ticketing Beijing's Scenic Spots Limit Tourist Flows, Push 'Contactless' Ticketing

(Yicai Global) March 9 -- As spring approaches and the novel coronavirus epidemic wanes in China, more and more people are venturing outside. But the authorities in charge of Beijing's public parks remain cautious and are limiting visitor numbers and bringing in 'contactless' ticket-buying, the People's Daily reported.

The number of visitors to the capital's parks and scenic spots has been on the rise since late February, the newspaper reported, citing regulators. However, prevention and control of the virus remains paramount and many of the city's tourist destinations are keeping footfall to below 40 percent of the maximum normally permitted.

Tickets for all public parks in Beijing can now be bought through 'non-contact' means, such as booking online and scanning QR codes. All visitors have their temperature taken on entering the grounds to reduce the risk of close-range infection.

The city's famed Summer Palace is limiting visitors to 30 percent of capacity. Tourists must book at least one day in advance on the imperial garden's WeChat account, it said. If they are able to reserve a ticket, they will need to show their ID cards on entry to the park.
