(Yicai) May 9 -- Beijing will host the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games in August, with the event aiming to highlight robot application technology's diversity, innovation, and practicability.

The competition will be held at the Beijing National Stadium and the National Speed Skating Oval from Aug. 15 to 17, local officials announced on May 7. It will include 19 events in three game categories: competitive, show, and scene-based.

Domestic and foreign companies, universities, scientific research institutes, innovation teams, clubs, and other social organizations are all welcome to register for the competition, according to the organizers.

The competitive games will contain 11 events set up as traditional sports, including sprinting, long-distance running, standing high jump, long jump, and other track and field sports, as well as gymnastics and soccer matches. These will test humanoid robots' athletic, coordination, and teamwork abilities.

The show games will include two dances that show real-time whole-body control and group collaboration of androids.

The scene-based games will focus on the practical application of humanoid robots in industrial, hospital, and hotel scenarios, with six events including material handling and sorting, drug sorting and packaging, and hotel welcome and cleaning services. Robots can demonstrate their practical application skills and intelligence level.

In addition, the World Humanoid Robot Games will also feature badminton, basketball, and table tennis games for non-humanoid robots.

Last month, the world's first half marathon for humanoid robots was also held in Beijing, with 21 androids running alongside 12,000 humans. X-Humanoid's Tiangong Ultra was the fastest of six robots to complete the race, crossing the finish line in two hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds.
