(Yicai) Aug. 15 -- The 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games, dubbed the first Humanoid Robot Olympic, opened in Beijing and are set to test androids' comprehensive capabilities in athletics, performances, practical applications, and human-machine interaction.

The event kicked off yesterday at the National Speed Skating Oval, which previously hosted the 2022 Winter Olympics, with more than 500 robots from 280 teams across 16 countries competing in 26 events, according to the organizers.

Unitree Robotics, Songyan Power Beijing Technology, Accelerated Evolution, Fourier, Zhuoyide, and other leading Chinese humanoid robot makers have entered the games, with the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center participating in 16 events. Renowned universities, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, are also taking part.

International participants at this year's World Humanoid Robot Games come from the United States, Germany, Australia, Japan, and 11 other foreign countries.

The games feature four major categories: Competitive Events consisting of traditional sports disciplines, Scenario-Based Events that simulate real-world application scenarios, Performance Events with dances and martial arts demonstrations, and Exhibition Events that explore fun human-machine interaction and tech boundaries.

Each event includes several sub-events. An organizing committee will determine the 26 gold medalists and overall rankings through comprehensive scoring based on the participants' results in different sub-events.
