(Yicai Global) Sept. 7 -- Several foreign carmakers, including BMW and Toyota Motor, have announced new imported auto recalls in China due to safety issues.
The State Administration for Market Regulation revealed the moves yesterday on its website.
BMW China Automotive Trading will take back 142,700 imported vehicles involving 22 models, including the 116i, 218i, and 320i. The German company will test and replace those cars' fuel tanks that may cause fuel leaks.
Chrysler Group China Sales will recall 1,160 new 2021 Jeep Wrangler 2.0T 4xe electric vehicles. The seller of American autos will upgrade the cars' sockets and software as their charging cables can accidentally disconnect in high-voltage charging situations.
The issue for Toyota Motor China Investment is engine management as such software of 124 imported Toyota Supras needs to be upgraded to function properly so that the brake assist system stops the vehicle faster.
FAW-Volkswagen Automobile's recall will involve 1,235 imported and domestically produced vehicles, including the models of Audi E-tron, A4, A6, and A8, due to brake and airbag problems.
