(Yicai Global) Sept. 19 -- The China Aviation Administration of China will lift its ban on the use of electronic devices, such as mobile phones, on airplanes, Zhu Tao, deputy director of its Flight Standard Division, said at a press briefing yesterday.
The change will take place from October this year.
Instead of a blanket ban, the government will allow individual airlines to make their own judgment on how devices affect flights and create policies based on their findings.
The division has formed relevant review and assessment methods. "I believe China's airlines will permit the use of some electronic devices on airplanes in the near future," he added.
