(Yicai Global) March 6 -- Hunan Baili Engineering Sci&Tech has been awarded with a CNY965 million (USD143.8 million) tender to construct a new energy vehicle battery materials factory in a hub of such plants including those of Contemporary Amperex Technology and BAIC BJEV.

Baili will serve as the contractor of engineering, procurement and construction of Easpring Material Technology's project in Changzhou in eastern Jiangsu province, the Yueyang-based winner fo the bid and the Beijing-headquartered partner said in a joint statement. 

The smart plant aims to produce 100,000 tons of cathode materials each year. Baili will be be responsible for reaching a 20,000 ton capacity at the start. The project is expected to be ready for testing at the end of this year and cost Easpring CNY3 billion (USD400 million). 

Baili has previously won other construction projects including those of Shaanxi Hongma Technology, and Ningxia Hanyao Graphene Energy Storage Material Technology.
