China's Bourses Rebound to Close Higher, Led by Agricultural Stocks

(Yicai Global) Feb. 20 -- China's mainland stock markets recovered from their intraday dips to close higher, buoyed by the strong farming sector. 

The Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.20 percent to close at 2,761.22 points, with a market volume of CNY205.4 billion (USD30.6 billion). The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.39 percent higher at 8,473.43, with CNY293.8 billion worth of equities changing hands. The Growth Enterprise Index, involving Shenzhen's small caps, rose 0.17 percent to 1,408.38, with a CNY81 billion stock turnover.

Shares of agricultural firms ended 3.26 percent in the green, and those related to non-ferrous metals climbed 1.95 percent, while leading gains during the whole day. Communication and telecoms firms lifted their heads in the afternoon session, and finished 1.48 percent up.
