(Yicai Global) Nov. 11 -- ByteDance has filed a lawsuit to fight an executive order by President Donal Trump that demands that the parent of Chinese video sensation TikTok needs to divest its US business by tomorrow.

ByteDance filed the legal challenge yesterday in the United States Court of Appeals District of Columbia Circuit, calling for a suspension of the executive order issued on Aug. 14, China News Service reported on Weibo today.

TikTok had to appeal to the court to protect the legal rights of the company and its employees, the firm said.

TikTok has been actively communicating with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States to resolve the latter's national security concerns but the committee has not given any substantive feedback regarding the comprehensive data privacy and security framework proposed by ByteDance, it added.
