(Yicai Global) Feb. 24 -- China unveiled its first integrated computing power trading platform today in Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, as part of the country’s strategy to channel computing resources from the west to the east.

The platform was co-built by companies and institutions including supercomputer maker Dawning Information Industry and the Beijing International Data Exchange.

Dawning Information’s shares [SHA: 603019] rose by the daily limit during trading today before closing up 8.5 percent at CNY31.57 (USD4.55) apiece.

The platform involves 27 companies and institutions including leading firms in the computing and artificial intelligence sectors such as Huawei Technologies, Alibaba Cloud, Sense Time and Baidu, CCTV News reported. It also includes big data institutions such as the State Information Center.

In 2022, the Chinese government approved the construction of eight national computing hubs and 10 national data center clusters as part of a strategy to channel computing demands from eastern regions to less developed but resource-rich western areas.

The platform will offer integrated services, so that users and companies will not have to shop around among multiple computing companies to get what they need, Yicai Global learned.
