(Yicai Global) Aug. 27 -- China's drone maker DJI's partnership with Swedish camera developer Hasselblad has borne its first fruit in the Chinese firm's bid to increasingly focus on the consumer market with open source technologies.

"This is probably the first Hasselblad camera for young people and it can fly," potential buyers said after seeing the two new drones of Mavic 2 Zoom and Pro, equipped with Hasselblad cameras, which were launched last week. "In the future, DJI will become more and more open-ended, including attracting developers through open source interface," said Chief Product Officer Xie Tiandi.

Shenzhen's DJI became a minority shareholder and a member of the board of directors in the Gothenburg-based firm in November 2015 and next year, the pair came out with their first aerial photography set. Last year, DJI bought a majority stake in Hasselblad, and in April that year the two firms launched the world's first 100 million-pixel aerial platform.

In the meantime, DJI's market share in China dropped 18 percent to 52 percent, US consultancy IDC's survey's findings showed in December 2016. It was the first time that DJI saw a decline in its market share for a year.

DJI makes most of the profit from selling imaging equipment, while profits form agricultural, education and other areas accumulatively make up less than 15 percent.

DJI is not a pure drone manufacturer, Xie said, adding that DJI devotes itself to research and development of technologies. Its business includes drone system, handheld imaging system, robot-based education and other areas. Its primary business is selling its own intelligent hardware equipment so it gives people a false impression that it is only a drone manufacturer.
