(Yicai Global) Dec. 11 -- A consortium led by China's state-backed E-Hualu Information Technology has won its CNY578 million (USD83.6 million) bid to build a bus rapid transit system in Pakistan.

The project, which will link Slenburg and Rawalpindi on behalf of The Urban Mobility Company, includes supplies, installation and support services, the Beijing-based contractor said in a statement yesterday. The tender involves ten years of operation and maintenance for the intelligent transport system, ticketing and stations once construction is complete.

It marks E-Hualu's second major project in Pakistan, and indicates the firm's competence in the smart transport sector has been recognized by the international market, the statement added. The company already provides city services for more than 300 cities in China and other countries.

The firm's other project in the country was built in 2016 to protect its capital, Islamabad, from the threat of terrorist attacks. E-Hualu build an electronic policing system, access control and a vehicle monitoring platform for the city.
