China Fines Two High-Profile Livestreamers Millions of Dollars for Tax Evasion China Fines Two High-Profile Livestreamers Millions of Dollars for Tax Evasion

(Yicai Global) Nov. 22 -- A local tax authority in China has penalized two influential livestreamers more than CNY90 million (USD14.1 million) for tax evasion.

The Hangzhou tax bureau in eastern Zhejiang province recovered the non-paid taxes and imposed late payment fees and a double fine totaling CNY65.6 million on Zhu Chenhui and CNY27.7 million on Lin Shanshan.

Zhu and Lin recorded income from personal salaries as the operating income of their sole proprietorship companies between 2019 and last year, violating tax laws. The pair were found out through Big Data analysis, the tax bureau said on its website today.

The bureau found that other livestreamers have also been dodging taxes. They are being investigated.
