(Yicai Global) Sept. 13 -- China's first commercial quantum private communication network –the quantum communication network of the Communist Party and government offices in Jinan city, capital of East China's Shandong Province, was approved by the experts and put into operation yesterday. The confidentiality, security and rate of testing of the network all met the designated standards and the entire network were put into use, state-run CCTV reported.

"We have tested three major parts, the quantum network, traditional network and management system, and the test results showed that all the three parts meet the necessary requirements," Wang Guangquan, one of the evaluation experts, told CCTV.

The quantum communication network of the Communist Party and government offices in Jinan City is the first truly functional such network, and will act as a successful example and will be promoted to all parts of Shandong Province and then all across the country, said Zhou Fei, assistant to the president of Jinan Institute of Quantum Science and Technology.

The quantum is the most basic, smallest indivisible unit of energy. Unknown quantum states can't be cloned precisely, thus as long as someone tries to copy it, the error code will be generated and the attempt will be uncovered. These characteristics make the quantum state communication extremely safe during transmission.

Quantum communication has the characteristics of high efficiency and absolute safety. At least 4,000 secret keys used for data protection was produced every second during communication between all the users of quantum communication private network of the Party and government offices in Jinan.
