China's Gas Production Hits Record High in November as Heating Season Arrives

(Yicai Global) Dec. 14 -- China's natural gas imports increased sharply and production hit a record high in November due to the onset of the winter heating season. 

The country produced 14.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas in November, up 10.1 percent annually. The growth rate was 2.6 percentage points higher than that of the previous month. The average daily production was 480 million cubic meters, a record high, the National Bureau of Statistics said in a statement. 

In November, natural gas imports came to 9.2 million tons, a yearly increase of 39.8 percent.

For January to November, China's natural gas production increased 6.6 percent to 143.8 billion cubic meters, while imports rose one-third to 81.2 million tons.

Raw coal production fell from last month but daily average production hit a three-year high, and imports fell annually.

In November, raw coal output rose 4.5 percent to 320 million tons, with growth down 3.5 percentage points from the previous month. The average daily output was 10.5 million tons, the highest level since December 2015. Imports were down 13.1 percent to 19.2 million tons. 

Raw coal output was 3.2 billion tons for January to November, up 5.4 percent annually, while imports were 270 million tons, up 9.3 percent annually. 

In November, crude oil production was 15.5 million tons, down 1.3  percent while imported crude oil was 42.9 million tons, up 15.7 percent. 

From January to November, imported crude oil was 418.1 million tons, up 8.4 percent while crude oil production was 172.8 million tons, down 1.6 percent.
