(Yicai Global) Feb. 22 -- Hello Chuxing, the Chinese bicycle sharer once known as Hellobike, has launched a new ride-sharing service covering more than 300 cities nationwide as it goes head-to-head with industry giant Didi Chuxing.
Junzheng Network Technology, the Shanghai-based firm behind the platform, previously piloted the service in 22 cities including Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Chengdu last month. The service has attracted two million registered drivers so far with over 7 million trips completed, according to data from China Webmaster.
The service features instant communication that enables passengers to keep in touch with drivers online once fares have been accepted. It also features a one-click button to call the police as part of efforts to boost safety.
Hello Chuxing has implemented a five-layer security system to safeguard users including multiple checks for drivers and 24-hour customer services.
Didi's own car-pooling service has been switched off since two incidents in which passengers were murdered last year. The company is in the process of reforming the system.
Founded in 2016, Hellobike officially changed its name to Hello Chuxing in September after receiving investment from Alibaba Group Holding's fintech affiliate Ant Financial Services Group.
