(Yicai Global) April 7 -- China's mainland stock markets extended early gains in the later session with the two major benchmarks in Shenzhen each leaping more than 3 percent on a tech surge.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed 2.05 percent higher at 2,820.76, while the Shenzhen Component Index finished at 10,428.91, up 3.15 percent. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, ended 3.31 percent higher at 1,969.78.

All sectors ended higher today as global financial markets showed signs of recovery, with financial tech leading the way after China's central bank hinted on April 3 about progress in its official cryptocurrency plans.

Digital currency companies averaged a 7 percent rise and several firms hit the 10 percent daily up limit, including fintech firm Global Infotech [SHE:300465], payment systems developer Hyunion Holding [SHE:002357], and banking software maker Shenzhen Forms Syntron Information [SHE:300468].
