(Yicai Global) April 19 -- Stock markets on the Chinese mainland climbed this afternoon to finish up for the day and higher over the full week as the financial and tech sectors offered a boost today.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed up 0.63 percent at 3,270.80, while the Shenzhen Component Index jumped 1.27 percent to 10,418.24. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, finished 0.66 percent higher at 1,715.80.

Insurers led gains with a 3.41 percent surge while communications firms enjoyed a 2.16 percent climb on average. Securities brokers and carmakers also ended the day more than 1 percent higher.
