Chinese Stocks Continue Morning Climbs by Noon

(Yicai Global) April 7 -- China's mainland stock markets climbed even higher after a strong start this morning, led by tech firms and agricultural ones.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 1.74 percent higher at 2,812.14 by the midday break. The Shenzhen Component Index was at 10,384.43, up 2.71 percent. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, rose 2.85 percent to 1,960.94.  

Digital currency firms led the markets with more than 6 percent gains as several companies reached the 10 percent limit-up, including fintech firm Global Infotech [SHE:300465], payment system developer Hyunion Holding [SHE:002537] and banking software maker Shenzhen Forms Syntron Information [SHE:300468].

The agriculture sector also moved up by more than 3 percent, led by Xinjiang Sayram Modern Agriculture [SHA:600540], rising 10 percent to CNY5.01 (US 71 cents).
