(Yicai Global) Jan. 19 -- Shares in MDK Opto Electronic surged as much as 11 percent today after the Chinese precision optical component manufacturer said a subsidiary has secured a three-year image sensor wafer processing contract with micro lens product maker Toppan SMIC Electronics.
MDK’s share price [SHA:688079] was trading up 6.12 percent at CNY15.96 (USD2.50) as of 1:30 p.m. China time. Earlier in the day they had hit CNY16.80, a four-month high.
Unit MDK Optical Semiconductor will provide optical path system processing services on image sensor wafers supplied by its Shanghai-based client, the Hangzhou-based parent firm said yesterday. No financial details were given.
Toppan SMIC Electronics is 70 percent owned by Toppan Printing, a leader in color filter technology, while the remaining equity is held by chipmaker Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation.
