China Raises Anti-Dumping Duty Rates on MMA Imports From Japan, Singapore, Thailand China Raises Anti-Dumping Duty Rates on MMA Imports From Japan, Singapore, Thailand

(Yicai Global) Feb. 27 -- China has decided to raise the anti-dumping duty rates imposed on methyl methacrylate, or MMA, imported from Japan, Singapore and Thailand following a review requested by some Chinese companies operating in the field.

The methyl methacrylate imported from the said countries were found to have dumping margins during a recent investigation and China's ministry of commerce has, therefore, decided to raise the anti-dumping duties imposed on it, it said in a statement today.

China will apply the new rates, raised up to 34.8 percent from previous 12.2 percent to 14.4 percent, to products imported from Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Asahi Kasei Corporation and Sumitomo Chemical Singapore Pte.

Sumitomo Chemical will see a new duty rate of 30.6 percent, compared with previous 14.5 percent, imposed on its products it exports to China, while several companies in Thailand will be subject to 32.6 percent anti-dumping duty, gone up from 10.7 percent to 15.2 percent. The new rates will be valid from tomorrow, the ministry said.

China first took anti-dumping measures against methyl methacrylate imported from Singapore, Thailand and Japan in December 2015 for five years. Methyl methacrylate is an organic compound used to produce glass, plastic, paint and adhesives.
