(Yicai Global) Oct. 23 -- China Southern Airlines [SHA:600029] has agreed a deal with The Boeing Co. [NYSE:BA] to purchase eight B777-300ER and thirty B737-8 aircraft at list price for a total of USD5.65 billion (CNY37.43 billion), the Chinese firm said in a press briefing on Oct. 20.
Boeing will deliver the first batch of five B777-300ER and twelve B737-8 planes in 2019, followed by three B777-300ERs and eighteen B737-8s in 2020.
The actual purchase price is significantly lower than the above-mentioned list price, thanks to discounts from Boeing, China Southern said.
The fleet additions boost the firm's transport capacity by 8.1 percent, according to its tonne-kilometer ratio at the end of 2016. This will help the company to meet market demand at the under-construction Beijing Daxing International airport in the Chinese capital.
