China's Stock Market Loses Ground in Afternoon(Yicai Global) May 22 -- China's stock market lost ground on gains made yesterday during this afternoon's trade, while software firms led gains with an average 1.9 percent increase.
The Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.49 percent lower at 2,891.70 with a turnover of CNY193.6 billion (USD27.9 billion). The Shenzhen Component Index ended 0.51 percent lower at 9,041.22 with a trading volume of CNY275.6 billion. The ChiNext Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, closed 0.34 percent higher at 1,488.63 with a turnover of CNY828.8 billion.
