(Yicai Global) July 23 -- Chinese stock markets closed lower in the morning due to profit-taking after recent rises, but the ChiNext Price Index recovered some of the ground it gave up earlier.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed down 1.19 percent to 3,293.54 at the lunch break, while the Shenzhen Component Index fell 1.31 percent to 13,477.89.

The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, fell 0.39 percent to 2,758.27 after a decline of 1.03 percent at opening.

SSE Science and Technology Innovation Board 50 Index, which launched after yesterday's close, slipped 1.18 percent to 1,479.54.
