(Yicai Global) Jan. 21 -- Chinese stock markets closed mixed this morning as profit-taking dragged main boards down, while pharma and biological shares buoyed the ChiNext.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.73 percent down at 3,595 at lunch time. The Star 50 Index, which tracks tech stocks on Shanghai’s Nasdaq-style board, slipped 0.85 percent to 1,469.66.

The Shenzhen Component Index fell 0.34 percent to 15,467.09. Shenzhen's ChiNext Price Index rose 0.74 percent against the grain to 3,307.86.
