(Yicai Global) Dec. 8 -- Stock markets on China's mainland closed mostly lower at noon today, with the growth enterprise tracking the ChiNext Price Index the lone standout.

The Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.25 percent at 3,407.99 at the lunch break, while its Nasdaq-like Star Market Board 50 Index, or Star 50, logged a 0.30 percent loss at 1,401.96.

The Shenzhen Component Index slipped 0.04 percent to 13,967.48, but the ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, swam against the tide to settle at 2,746.78. up 0.74 percent.
