(Yicai Global) June 3 -- Chinese mainland stock exchanges traded in a narrow margin this afternoon after returning all their early morning gains in light volume.

The Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.30 percent at 2,890.09 as the curtain fell, while the Shenzhen Component Index finished 0.74 percent lower at 8,856.99 at the buzzer. 

The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, closed down 0.99 percent at 1,468.98 when the bell sounded.
