(Yicai Global) Oct. 8 -- Stock markets on the Chinese mainland lost steam in the afternoon as major indexes rounded out the day in jumbled fashion.
The Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.29 percent to 2,913.57 at the final bell, after rising as much as 0.89 percent in the morning. The Shenzhen Component Index finished up 0.30 percent higher at 9,474.75. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, fared the worst, winding up down 0.67 percent at 1,616.58.
