(Yicai Global) March 4 -- China's top political advisory body has held its first press conference of this year's session, which starts today.

Spokesperson Guo Weimin introduced the fifth session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference to reporters yesterday. The six-day session will open at 3 p.m. today and close on March 10.

The CPPCC functions under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. Its main functions are political consultation, democratic supervision, participation in discussion, and handling of state affairs.
