(Yicai Global) Dec. 11 -- China UnionPay, the country's biggest bank card provider, has unveiled a new mobile app developed jointly with 30 commercial banks and financial institutions supporting QR code payments.

The QuickPass app is the first of its kind to integrate mobile payment functions and respective services of individual banks, the firm said in a press briefing yesterday.

Users can manage various bank accounts, make payments and apply for credit cards through the app, available on Apple Inc.'s [AAPL:NASDAQ] iOS and Alphabet Inc.'s [NASDAQ:GOOG] Android operating systems.

QuickPass payment services are available nationwide at over 100,000 convenience stores and supermarkets, more than 30 colleges and universities and more than 100 vegetable markets and municipal utilities in over 300 cities.

The firm also plans to expand the availability of the service in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Users can already use QuickPass QR code payments in Singapore, Macao and Hong Kong.
