China's Dajin Heavy Lands Two More Orders for Four Bulk Carriers Worth USD300 Million China's Dajin Heavy Lands Two More Orders for Four Bulk Carriers Worth USD300 Million

(Yicai) June 1 -- Dajin Heavy Industry, a major Chinese supplier of offshore wind turbine foundations, said it has secured orders for four bulk carriers from Greek and Norwegian clients in two deals worth USD300 million, its fourth and fifth such order in just over a month after landing its first-ever.

Dajin Heavy will build the four vessels, each of 211,000 deadweight tonnage, for the two shipowners, the Beijing-based company announced yesterday. Phased deliveries are scheduled for 2029.

The Norwegian firm has previously ordered such vessels from Dajin Heavy, while the Greek company is a new client, the shipbuilder noted, without disclosing their names, how many ships each ordered, and the value per deal.

The Norwegian client runs a self-owned fleet, engages in new vessel investment, second-hand ship trading, and long-term chartering, while also having a marine engineering business, while the Greek one focuses on crude oil and oil products transportation, ship operation, and asset management, Dajin Heavy pointed out.

Dajin Heavy secured five orders for 14 211,000 DWT bulk carriers worth more than USD1 billion since April 23. It first landed orders for eight vessels in two deals worth about USD591 million, marking a breakthrough into the European market, with half ordered by the same Norwegian client and the rest by a different Greek firm, before getting another order for two ships from a third Greek buyer on May 11.

Long focused on manufacturing offshore wind power equipment, Dajin Heavy started building ships after its base in Panjin, a coastal city in China's Liaoning province, was completed and began operating in 2023.
