(Yicai Global) May 26 -- China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation has penned deals to construct the second phase of an urban rail project in the Nigerian capital Abuja and provide trains, equipment and operations management to the railroad's first phase.

The second phase is a 32.5-kilometer long railroad which will take 54 months to construct, with the trains on the track expected to run up to 100 kilometers per hour, China Railway Construction Corporation [SHA:601186], CCECC's parent company, said yesterday. The contract is worth about USD1.47 billion.

The pair also signed a USD194-million deal on the purchase of bullet trains and relevant equipment, and a USD126-million deal for the provision of operations management, the firm said.

CCECC will supply 12 bullet trains, equipment and maintenance for three-years, including services for a five-month preparation period and 36 months of operation, for the first phase of the urban rail project. Construction of the first phase, built by CCECC, began in August 2012.
