(Yicai Global) May 30 -- China's mainland stock markets finished the day lower despite last-minute upswings in major benchmarks. 

The Shanghai Composite Index shed 0.3 percent to close at 2,905.81, with CNY197.1 billion (USD28.6 billion) worth of shares changing hands. The Shenzhen Component Index finished 0.7 percent lower at 8,943.35 points on a trading volume of CNY256.4 billion. The tech-heavy ChiNext Index fell 0.8 percent to 1,485.24 points on a turnover of CNY76.1 billion.
