Chinese Futures Market to List New Varieties, Further Open Up During 15th Five-Year Plan Period(Yicai) Oct. 16 -- The Chinese futures market will promote the listing of new varieties and steadily expand its opening-up to the outside world during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), according to officials.
The futures market will steadily expand the opening-up of specific futures varieties, deepen overseas authorization of settlement prices and cross-border delivery cooperation, strengthen risk control along the entire chain, and crack down on illegal and irregular behaviors, Zhang Yue, deputy director of the China Securities Regulatory Commission's futures supervision department, said at the Shanghai Derivatives Market Forum yesterday.
During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the Shanghai Futures Exchange will strengthen its competitive products, such as metals, energy, and shipping, promote the listing of liquefied natural gas and fluting medium futures and options, advance the development of electricity and other varieties, gradually promote the opening-up of platforms, services, and other fields, and expand the application scenarios of the Shanghai Price, said Tian Xiangyang, Party secretary and chairman of the SHFE.
The SHFE has opened 11 specific varieties to overseas traders and 47 varieties to qualified foreign investors, basically covering all its listed varieties. It also authorized the London Metal Exchange to use its hot-rolled coil futures settlement price to develop related contracts and launched a cross-border delivery business for the No. 20 rubber futures, the first of its kind.
To serve the real economy, the SHFE has launched arbitrage and market orders and listed five options this year. As of Aug. 31, more than 360 Chinese mainland-listed real economy firms had announced their participation in SHFE varieties, an increase of more than 20 percent from a year earlier.
During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the China Financial Futures Exchange will focus on enhancing the internal stability of the market and make front-line supervision more scientific, promoting the diversification of the participant structure, strengthening the completeness of product systems, and steadily expanding opening-up, said He Qingwen, Party secretary and chairman of the CFFEX.
