Chinese-German Open Online Learning Platform Is Launched(Yicai Global) March 2 -- The opening ceremony for the Chinese-German Open Online Learning Platform was recently held at Shanghai Open University.
The platform aims to offer learning opportunities to people from both countries, deepen cooperation between colleges and universities in China and Germany and boost academic and cultural exchanges and business development.
Courses on the platform are mainly in Chinese and English in the initial stage. Member colleges, universities and companies will develop online courses and create or integrate German courses for the platform in the future. The platform will keep upgrading as more colleges, universities and institutions join.
Yuan Wen, president of Shanghai Open University, said the platform has now brought together Shanghai International Studies University, Tongji University, Germany’s FernUniversität in Hagen and Cognos International, Alibaba Group Holding, and the World Urban Planning Education Network. They have designed more than 30 free courses in five areas: language, business and trade, culture and arts, digital economy, and smart city for learners.
The platform, which was approved at the Sino-German Dialogue Forum in Qingdao in 2019, will provide learners with online education courses and learning support services, said Ada Pellert, president of FernUniversität in Hagen.
