China’s ChiNext, Star 50 Finish Up at Morning Close as Main Boards Becalmed(Yicai Global) Dec. 3 -- Stock markets on China's mainland were jumbled at midday today, as the advance of recent market leader the Shanghai Composite Index stalled while the growth stocks so pummeled lately have started to attract a certain bargain hunting.
Growth stocks were the lead gainers, and the Star 50 Index, which follows tech stocks on Shanghai’s Nasdaq-style new board, was up 0.56 percent to 1,416.40 at the lunch break, while the Shenzhen growth enterprise-tracking ChiNext Price Index gained 1.25 percent to 2,716.51.
The Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.09 percent to 3,446.19 at the breather after recording an intraday high of 3,466 yesterday, a level not seen since February 2018, while the Shenzhen Component Index stood at 13,982.34, up 0.15 percent.
