(Yicai Global) April 17 -- Chinese software maker Meitu will extend its beautifying power offline with its first skincare product.
Clamshell-shaped Meitu Spa skin cleansing instrument will be sold on Meitu's official website on April 23 for CNY598 (USD89), the Securities Times reported. The silicone device can be linked with a related phone app that helps to change the temperature of the treatment.
The company may develop basic skin care products with the functions of cleansing, detection, firming and anti-aging to meet its clientele's needs, the Xiamen-based firm said.
Founded in 2008, Meitu was originally known for its skin imperfection-blurring effect that renders each photo taken with the app eerily spotless. The firm ventured on hardware business with its first selfie smartphone in 2013, but as sales growth started to sink by over one-third in the first half of 2018 the company sold its phone business to Xiaomi.
