(Yicai Global) July 24 -- China's major mainland indexes finished the day higher although they pared some of this morning's gains in the afternoon. Tech stocks were particularly strong. 

The Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.8 percent up at 2,923.18. The Shenzhen Component Index rose 1 percent to 9,266.30. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, climbed 1.2 percent to 1,553.72.
